About Me – Chris Jay aka Cannabispromoter

Hi, I’m Chris Jay, better known online as Cannabispromoter. My journey with cannabis spans over two decades, and it’s been an incredible ride blending my passion for the plant with my professional skills in technology, marketing, and community building. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats in this industry — from grower and educator to writer, business developer, and cannabis cup judge.

My Work in the Cannabis Industry

I started out with a simple love for the plant, which grew into a career dedicated to building brands, creating communities, and promoting cannabis culture.

Digital Marketing & Brand Promotion – Helping cannabis and hemp businesses stand out with tailored marketing strategies, influencer campaigns, and online visibility.
Content Creation & Writing – I’ve written hundreds of articles on cannabis culture, cultivation, and business. One of my proudest moments was being featured as a writer for Tommy Chong’s platform, contributing to one of the most iconic voices in the cannabis movement.
Community Management – For over five years, I’ve been managing the growing forum on GrowersNetwork.org, helping connect cultivators worldwide and fostering a thriving, knowledge-sharing community.
Education & Lecturing – I’ve had the privilege of being a lecturer for CheebaAfrica.com, teaching courses like Cannabis Fundamentals and Grow Cannabis 101. Sharing knowledge and empowering the next generation of cannabis professionals has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey.
Business Development – Most recently, I stepped into the role of Business Development Manager at CueTip.com, an ERP software built specifically for cannabis growers. Here, I focus on building relationships, expanding opportunities, and helping growers streamline their operations with cutting-edge tools.

Achievements I’m Proud Of

Serving as a judge for cannabis cups, where I’ve had the honor of evaluating some of the finest cannabis grown by talented cultivators in both the Eastern Cape and Garden Route.

Being recognized as one of the leading cannabis influencers in South Africa, with an active presence across forums, social media, and industry events.
Reggae music promoter: I have been involved with a number of reggae bands as a promoter and manager. From creating music videos for the highly respected Bushy Williams to promoting award winning reggae artists like Blakka Yut.

Creating the first non-profit cannabis advocacy group, NORML in South Africa.
Writing extensively for global platforms, including contributing to Tommy Chong’s website, helping to spread knowledge and advocate for legalization and normalization.
Helping to build trusted cannabis education platforms in Africa through my work with CheebaAfrica, ensuring accessible, quality cannabis training.
Driving conversations and community growth on GrowersNetwork.org for more than half a decade.

My mission is to promote the cannabis industry with integrity, to give growers and businesses the tools and exposure they need to succeed, and to continue breaking down stigma while building sustainable growth.
